Clinical Neurodegeneration

The group “Clinical Neurodegeneration” is engaged in common neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson’s disease, atypical and secondary Parkinsonian syndromes and Restless-Legs-Syndrome. Main focus is to identify markers which enable an earlier diagnosis and an objective description of disease progression and thereby in the future a possible effective disease modulation and neuroprotection.

To identify such makers and to establish screening batteries for the identification of individuals at high risk for neurodegenerative disorders who may benefit most from neuroprotective therapeutic strategies we follow large cohorts of patients and yet healthy individuals with an increased risk for neurodegenerative diseases prospectively and longitudinally.

Moreover, novel medical and conservative therapeutic strategies are offered in numerous studies.
