Neuromuskuläre Bildgebung

Die Arbeitsgruppe beschäftigt sich mit der Bildgebung des peripheren Nervensystems, vor allem dem hochauflösenden Ultraschall, bei neuromuskulären Erkrankungen, i.e. Polyneuropathien, Myopathien, Motoneuronerkrankungen sowie Mononeuropathien, i.e. Engpass-Syndrome, Nerventraumata, Nerventumore.  Mittels dieser Diagnostik sind wir in der Lage, Pathologien des Nervs wie beispielsweise Entzündungen, Fibrose oder Vernarbungen darzustellen. Oftmals findet man Vergrößerungen der Nervenquerschnittsfläche, Faszikelschwellungen, Verschiebungen der Echogenität oder Kompressionen des Nervs von außen. Wir konnten bereits in mehreren Arbeiten nachweisen, dass die Nerven sich unter Therapie, im Laufe von Heilungsprozessen oder bei fortschreitender Pathologie sonomorphologisch verändern, viele Verlaufsparameter bleiben jedoch noch im Unklaren und es bedarf weiterer Studien hierzu. Da viele Dinge auch im Gesunden unverstanden sind, beschäftigt sich unsere Arbeitsgruppe außerdem mit der Sammlung von Normwerten für Nervengröße, Nervendurchblutung, Gewebselastizität und Faszikelsomototopie.
