Opportunities for Postdocs and Junior Research Group Leaders

Flat hierarchies and a uniquely close integration of basic and applied research in the clinical neurosciences distinguish the HIH from many other institutions. Actively shaping the future of the institute and taking on responsibility at an early stage - the HIH offers this opportunity to young scientists. Embedded in the excellent infrastructure of the institute, they can build up their own research program. A wide range of advanced training opportunities - from leadership seminars to post-doctoral studies - enable personal and professional development.

Postdocs

Postdoctoral researchers at the HIH have the opportunity to take advantage of the various funding opportunities available through the University and the Faculty of Medicine. The Graduate Academy of the University of Tübingen, for example, offers a wide range of information and training opportunities for building a scientific career. The Junior Academy of the Faculty of Medicine provides structured support in the development of an independent academic career. It also provides a platform for exchange on organizational and structural issues.

Young scientists can receive start-up funding through the fortüne-Program. With this program, the Medical Faculty supports basic and disease-oriented research projects in biomedicine. The aim is to facilitate the acquisition of external third-party funding.

Junior Research Group Leaders

The HIH supports early scientific independence. Excellent employees have the opportunity to become head of their own research group. With appropriate qualifications, they can apply for the status of research group leader.

Independent junior research groups are equal in status to HIH research group leaders. A prerequisite for establishing such a junior research group at the HIH is external funding (ERC grant, Emmy Noether junior research group, etc.).

Junior research group leaders have the opportunity to receive structured support in the development of an independent academic career in the Junior Academy of the Medical Faculty.
