Professor Dr. Dr. Ghazaleh Tabatabai is one of the top neuro-oncologists in Germany. This is the result of a current survey among medical specialists and registered doctors that has been appointed by the German news magazine Focus. The journal has now published a list of the best physicians 2017 in a special edition on cancer.
“Of course, it is a privilege to to receive this award on behalf of my whole team,“ says Tabatabai. “It reveals that patients and doctors in Germany acknowledge our clinical work.” In her research group at the HIH, the physician investigates basic science questions. “We seek for possibilities to develop new forms of a targeted and individualized therapies for our patients.” Depending on the individual patient and his underlying cause of the disease, the answer may be very different. “One of our aims is to identify synergistic therapy combinationswhere the efficacy of the single therapies is enhanced.”
From basic science to clinical strategies is also the read thread of the International Meningeom Meeting, which will be held in Tübingen from September 2 to 3. The meeting will be organized by Tabatabai and Professor Dr. Marco Tatagiba (Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery), who has also been honored as a top doctor from the news magazine Focus. This Tübingen duo has succeeded in bringing a very important conference on tumors of the brain membranes into the university town. “This is a big network and I am looking forward to exciting discussions with colleagues from Canada, the US, Brasil, England, France, Italy and other important German centers,” Tabatabai says.
