The German Parkinson Association “Deutsche Parkinson Vereinigung Bundesverband e.V.” supports the Center of Neurology with a fellowship of 35,000 Euros. “The donation enables us to release a medical doctor from the duties of routine patient care ,” explains HIH director Professor Dr. Thomas Gasser. “During this time, he or she can devote him- or herself to the study of Parkinson's disease and, for example, collect data, analyze it and conduct clinical trials. In this way, we establish a close connection between clinical care and research as it corresponds to the concept of a clinician scientist.” In addition to the research work, the neurologist in training will participate in an internal training program on movement disorders. The duration of the fellowship is one year.
