Prof. Dr. Thomas Gasser has been admitted to the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. The ceremonial welcome as a new academy member took place on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in Halle (Saale). “The admission to the Leopoldina is a great honor and I am looking forward to the scientific exchange with colleagues from various disciplines,” Gasser states. In addition to him, ten other scientists were admitted to the academy during the occasion. The Leopoldina was founded in 1652 as Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher and has around 1,600 members in more than 30 countries today.
