PD Dr. Annerose Mengel is now heading her own research group “Stroke Recovery and Outcome” in Prof. Ulf Ziemann's Department of “Neurology with Neurovascular Medicine” at the HIH.
Dr. Mengel is a specialist in neurology and deputy medical director at the Tübingen University Hospital. There, she heads the neurological intensive care unit and the comprehensive stroke unit. In her previous research, she worked in the field of neurovascular diseases in the department, where she analyzed data on blood pressure variability after cerebral hemorrhages, among other things.
Her scientific work focuses on mechanisms of recovery after cerebrovascular diseases and on improving intensive care treatment strategies. With her new research group at HIH, she intends to investigate specifically which factors influence recovery after a stroke—with the aim of optimizing prognosis and therapy in the long term.
We are delighted about the new research group and congratulate Dr. Mengel on her next career step!
