Parkinson's disease is a common and serious neurodegenerative disease. Although dopamine substitution therapy or deep brain stimulation can bring many patients a significant temporary improvement in their quality of life, a cure is still not possible and the progression of the disease cannot be slowed down significantly.
The interdisciplinary research area Human Neuroimaging uses Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to understand how brain microstructure links to human brain function in health and disease.
